Privacy Policy for EARLAB Ambient
Effective date: 2024-07-14
Last updated: 2024-07-14
1 Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the EARLAB Ambient iOS application provided by EARLAB GmbH. It does not cover the general EARLAB website, which is governed by a separate website privacy policy.
2 Responsible Entity
Provider and entity responsible for the app:
EARLAB GmbH

3 Data Processing Within the App
EARLAB Ambient does not require an account or sign-in. EARLAB GmbH does not receive or collect personal data, usage data, analytics data or imported audio through the app.
The following information is processed locally on the user’s device solely to provide the app’s functionality:
- An imported WAV file
- The imported file’s name
- Left and right target signal levels
- Output-compensation lock state
- The system-volume reference used for compensation
Imported audio is copied into the app’s local storage and processed locally. The app does not upload imported audio or app settings to EARLAB GmbH.
4 Storage and Deletion
Local settings remain stored until the user changes them or deletes the app. Imported audio remains in the app’s local storage until it is replaced or the app is deleted.
Deleting EARLAB Ambient removes data stored in the app’s local container. It does not delete the original audio file from the Files app, Seafile or another source from which it was imported.
Apple may include application data in a device or iCloud backup according to the user’s device and backup settings. Restoring such a backup may restore locally stored application data.
5 External Services and File Providers
EARLAB Ambient does not contain advertising, tracking tools or third-party analytics SDKs.
When a user selects a file through Apple’s Files interface, the selected storage or file-provider service – such as iCloud Drive or Seafile – may process information independently. The provider’s own privacy policy applies to that processing. EARLAB Ambient receives access only to the file selected by the user.
Apple may independently process information relating to App Store downloads, TestFlight participation, device diagnostics and backups. This processing is governed by Apple’s privacy terms.
6 Contact Requests
If a user contacts EARLAB GmbH by email or telephone, EARLAB processes the contact information and message provided in order to respond to the request. Such information is retained only as long as required to handle the request and meet applicable legal obligations.
Your existing general privacy policy may already contain the appropriate legal basis and retention language for contact requests; that wording should be reused for consistency.
7 User Rights
Where EARLAB GmbH processes personal data – for example, when responding to a support request – users may have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability, subject to the applicable legal requirements.
Users also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority.
8 Changes to This Policy
EARLAB GmbH may update this Privacy Policy when the app’s functionality or applicable legal requirements change. The current version and its effective date will be published on this page.
